“To whom it may concern:
Combat readiness, weapon selection, ease of use, are not just words to be used in the movies. On the battlefield when it really matters the words have meaning and save lives. These are the words I would also use to describe the best combatknife I have ever used, the MP4 Wolfhawk. The MP4 Wolfhawk mounts securely and effortlessly on the side of any rail system. The Wolfhawk mounted on the side of my M4, sits within easy reach, and within my field of vision. Understanding that seconds count, the MP4 Wolfhawk, helps complete the definition of combat readiness, weapon selection and ease of use.”
~Capt G. Birch U.S. Army, Infantry

To whom it may concern:
“We here at Quality Arms Idaho are always looking for new products to enhance the AR Platform. In our opinion the MP4 Wolfhawk Knife System for mounting on the Picatinny Rail for the AR is one such product. Not only is it made tough with its superior steel and construction, it is a US made product andthe quality is far superior to those cheap knock-offs. Being made in Idaho is another reason we at Quality Arms Idaho recognize Battle Blades, in conjunction with TOPS KNIVES, as a superior high quality manufacturer. We will be releasing the Battle Storm series of weapons shortly and the Battle Blades (Wolfhawk) Knife System will be prominent.”

Background Interview on Kelly Van Orden, Designer and Pres. of Battle Blades Knives: April 17, 2012

You can quickly see on close observation that Kelly has the look of a man that has lived his lived his life out-of-doors. In his case, the Rocky Mountains, USA.
His quiet manner may initially fool some; however, there lies behind this quiet demeanor, a man who has had a world of real action experiences.

Discussions with him over several weeks highlighted some very interesting parts of his almost 60 years. He is now a semi-retired rancher in the Rockies, and although not running a ranch at present, he spends a great deal of his time and energy developing his 'Battle Blades Project.'

Looking back several years, Kelly grew up in the mountains trapping, hunting, and fishing. As a young man, he adopted and trained wild mustangs (wild horses) and spent years as a wilderness guide running hunting, fishing, and pack trips. He helped various scouting groups when time permitted. Kelly is a pilot and he has spent time as a big game hunter with both rifle and bow. It is important to note...Knives always played an essential part of his daily life, regardless of the activities he was involved in.

A great influence on Kelly came from his father who fought in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge in an army machine gun squad. Kelly gained a great respect and admiration for the US military. Although Kelly did not have the resources to fund a wounded veteran type of foundation, he decided to put his 'Gun-nut hobby', coupled with his imagination to create a product that would directly benefit our military men and women in the field.

Looking through numerous gun magazines and owning several AR-15, M-4 type weapons of his own, it seemed to him that one could buy almost anything to mount on a Picatinny Rail, but not a knife!...AN ALL IMPORTANT BACKUP TOOL.

So he started building crude prototypes. He spent a great deal of time talking with and getting input from military friends. He was convinced that a need existed for a rail mounted combat and sporting knife.

Being the case that if a soldier or outdoorsman becomes separated from his equipment, on occasion, his knife would be gone also. With the Battle Blades system, as long as the has his primary weapon, he will also have a knife to help with a variety of situations that may arise.

With the encouragement of his wife, Kami, family and friends, he went forward with the 'Battle Blades Project.' Kelly had no experience in manufacturing and as a result, made several mistakes. He recently met Mike Fuller of TOPS Knives and through joint work and development, initiated the manufacturing process. Kelly just wasn't a quitter!

After showing his Prototype at the 2012 Shot Show, Kelly and Kami were able to introduce their new system. The reception for the Battle Blades System was most enthusiastic from military and outdoorsmen alike. Kelly and Kami are now ready to put their first model, the MP4 Wolfhawk out into the marketplace.

B.O.B. KNIFE (Tumble Finish) B.O.B. KNIFE (Tumble Finish)

Due to very high demand, this model is on extended backorder, please allow 6-8 weeks for processing.

TOPS is proud to provide the Tumble Finish Brothers of Bushcraft. Many of our friends have asked for a version of the B.O.B. without a powder coat. The wait is over. The tumble finish on this knife will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of an already wonderfully useful knife. If you are not a fan of powder coating because it gets in the way when batoning or working with wood and other materials, you will love this new option.

The Fieldcraft Knife was designed by The Brothers of Bushcraft, a coalition of men across North America focused on sharing wilderness living skills of all categories. From tracking, to building shelters, the Brothers of Bushcraft make it a point to show the skills to all people, of all ages, from all over.

The Fieldcraft Knife is the culmination of their knowledge, combining experiences from the broad and humid rain forests, to the arid and scorpion-littered deserts, to the frigid northern lands that span the Americas.

The cutting edge is a modified Scandinavian Grind, which is very effective for carving, skinning, and other general wood work. The hardness and edge geometry work beautifully together to make a long lasting edge. The handle is one of the most ergonomic on the market, sporting several useful additions. Although knives with a lot of frills often end up lacking, the additional items found on the Fieldcraft Knife were selected from experience and critiqued in every step of design, development and production. Being made of canvas micarta, the handle will never let you down. The bow drill divot on the handle is frictionless and makes starting those primitive fires almost effortless. The "Thumb Scallops", formed on the hilt of the handle offer more comfort and control when using specialized carving and skinning grips. The pommel of the blade is simply the tang of the knife exposed enough to allow impact from a baton to not affect the handle (though the micarta is definitely tough enough to take such abuse). On the exposed pommel, you will find a scraper specially designed by one of The Brothers of Bushcraft, for striking Ferro rods in a safe and efficient manner.

The sheath is a strong, durable Kydex, with a rotating steel belt clip. This arrangement allows a safe, secure and comfortable carry on the belt, pack strap, or even around the neck. With a built in Ferro-rod attachment point, the sheath now doubles as a minimalist survival kit.

The Fieldcraft Knife has had heavy duty abuse, and testing done in the wilderness of Canada, where local survival experts Mors Kochanski, Dr. Gino Ferri, and many others have deemed her a "Serviceable Field Knife". These words are exactly what she is meant to be.

From carving netting needles and trap triggers, to chopping through branches, the TOPS Knives/Brothers of Bushcraft Fielcraft Knife will do just about any chore that you can throw at her to survive and thrive out there in the wilderness.

Überfire (exclusively through TOPS KNIVES)

Created by Dale Fruit – For Operators in extreme conditions.

Überfire was originally designed to assist downed pilots in creating a potentially life-saving fire in inhospitable environments. A survivor with a broken leg, pelvis, or arm will not be able to forage for dry tinder or use many other traditional fire-starting methods. Clearly, a downed pilot who has survived a crash, would very likely suffer such an injury. In a wet environment, lighters or matches may not be enough to get a fire going. That is why Dale created Überfire. It is completely hydrophobic, which means it will not absorb water, so even if it gets wet, the user just needs to discard any standing water in the tin and then light it up. It is an excellent source of steady, intense heat that provides the user a means of drying out small tinder within his immediate proximity.

The combustive materials in Überfire are specially formulated to assist in starting fires with whatever tinder is available, even wet tinder, and the more you fan Überfire, the hotter it gets. Überfire honors the three T’s of combustion, which are time, turbulence, and temperature.

Überfire is made with all-natural, completely hydrophobic ingredients. The 2 oz. can will burn for approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on the conditions. There is a cotton pad saturated with petroleum jelly included in the tin as well. Überfire is designed to start from one spark. It will not evaporate even after partial use and can be lit multiple times. Although no synthetic materials were used in its creation, it’s not meant to be ingested or inhaled.

Whether you’re Special Forces, Military, SERE trained, Federal Agency Personnel, a pilot, an avid outdoorsman, or a hardcore bushcrafter or survivalist, Überfire is the ultimate last-resort fire option for you.

The SCANDI WOODSMAN was first introduced at the 2014 Blade Show held in Atlanta. Many of the people that stopped by our booth were impressed by the elegant, yet functional design. The inspiration for this knife came from its sister, the LIONESS. We received a lot of comments letting us know that you wanted something similar to the Lioness that didn’t have the Tactical Pink coating, so here it is.

The handle was specifically designed so it would fit well in smaller hands, but we’ve seen that it fits perfectly in larger hands, too, so most people can pick it up and use it comfortably. The shape of the blade has a lot of belly, which makes it a very handy skinner. The SCANDI WOODSMAN will also prove to be extremely useful for a variety of bushcraft or camping tasks. The finger guard is very aggressive, decreasing the risk of losing the grip and accidentally cutting fingers, which makes it great for beginners. But knife veterans will also see the benefits you can get with this knife.

Frog Market Special

We have been working on this knife for a few months now and wanted to make sure that it was just right before deciding to make it available to everyone. A thickness of only 1/16th of an inch (1.5875 mm) makes this knife the thinnest knife we have offered so far. The blade is 5 and a quarter inches (13.335 cm) long and it has an overall length of 9 and a half inches (24.13 cm). It weighs just 3.5 ounces (99.2233 gr) yet it is still a strong knife.

The FROG MARKET SPECIAL is made of 1095 High Carbon Steel, and has Tan Canvas Micarta scales. It has our new Black River Wash finish that is quickly becoming one of the most popular finishes that we have ever offered. The wide heel allows for deep, shearing cuts. The steep curve up to the edge slices well. As you use the knife, you’ll notice it has an ergonomic handle that is very comfortable. The thinner steel allows for clean, smooth cuts and gives the blade some added flexibility over thicker knives. The tip is also ideal for boning meats like chicken and pork. Although the Frog Market Special is great in the kitchen, you’ll find a myriad of uses for it while camping, fishing, and hunting as well.

Steven Dick, who is an editor with Tactical Knives, refined this design based on what he saw on a trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. He saw butchers and fish mongers using knives with a pattern that he’d never seen before. They were able to prepare meats and fish of many varieties easily using their unique blades. But rest assured, although the inspiration for the Frog Market Special comes from the markets in Vietnam, the KNIVES are still manufactured and hand-finished right here in the Rocky Mountains USA.
