BE PREPARED NOW! ...'CAUSE THERE AIN'T NO TOMORROW
All-in-all, this is just like a pocket-sized D-9 tractor. Overbuilt to ensure performance, this tool is not for everyone. Suggested use for professional outdoorsmen, military/SWAT operators, and SAR.
In the most challenging environments and the most difficult situations, TOPS has real-time, carry-along solutions.
Behind the tool: The success of our original XcEST-Alpha fixed blade was very positive in its performance for field operators. TOPS received a wide range of "thumbs-up" critiques. So much so, that we listened to our client's new requests. There was a strong demand for the same strength, durability, and functionality of the XcEST in a solid-built folder.
It took a year to refine, tweak, and field test the XcEST-Delta. With its rugged good looks, accompanying its multi-use field abilities, it is a virtual replica in size and strength to the XcEST-Alpha. The blade and frame are coated with our trusted black traction coating, and the handle slabs are made of hard wearing, good looking blue/black G10. The handles are complimented with a divot on both sides, should the user require it for use with a bow drill. The heavy-duty pocket clip is recessed in the handles to avoiding the possibility of sliding from side to side and is reversible (left or right side). For those of you who wish to use it with the accompanying black ballistic nylon sheath, it may be mounted horizontally or vertically on a belt and is MOLLE compatible. The pivot pin is 1/4" diameter case-hardened steel. The frame is aircraft aluminum 6061 T-6. The blade steel is 154cm, hardened to 58-60 RC. The pocket clip is hardened tool steel.

- My EDC Excalibur
- I just ordered a new Xcest Delta. Not because the one I carry now doesn't fit the bill, but because I wanted one to keep on my desk to show off to folks who - like me - are (were?) always looking for the hardest use and most reliable folding knife imaginable. I've carried the Buck/TOPS model for years, but when I found the original - the Xcest Delta - I knew I'd hit on my Excalibur. It's been my work EDC for some weeks now. So I figured I'd satisfy my craving for beauty as well as beast and get another, but with the Rocky Mountain Tread that makes the Buck version look and feel so good. Thank you to the TOPS team for this one. Bravo! (Posted on 5/7/2021)
- Should've been named the B3F
B3F = BIG, BEATIFUL, BADASS FOLDER!!!
I'm not a big fan of liner locks, but the liner lock on the XCEST Delta is intelligently designed. The end of the tang is milled so the liner can only go but so far across the tang during lock-up. This shouild mean positive lock-ups after many years of use.
While the XCEST Delta appears to be huge, it is actually fits quite comfortably in my medium/large hands, and is well balanced.
As all of TOPS knives do, the XCEST Delta came very sharp, and with excellent fit and finish. To top it off, it comes with a sheath that is rigidly sturdy, and is one of the best made of its kind. Nice package for a B3F!! (Posted on 10/18/2016)
