This knife is the product of more than 30 years of experience in the outdoors. Wilderness Bushcraft & Survival has been not just a hobby, but also a way of life for Nick. The design is of the Nepalese Khukuri style, which is well known to all who view the shape of the blade.

"My travels have taken me to some of the furthest reaches of the world, some so remote that there would be little chance of seeing another human being, and sometimes, alone. It is these conditions this knife was designed for. The first words that came to mind when I designed this Khukuri were strength, reliability, resilience, and adaptability."

This is not just another Khukuri design. You will notice that there is a deeper sweeping belly to this blade than a normal Khukuri. This allows you to use a shorter blade and still have tremendous chopping power. The belly also helps facilitate its use to skin animals, whether choking up on the blade with your hand up on the spine or using a push or draw motion to cape.

The curved nature of this Khukuri design is natural for slicing, using the blade as a draw knife in a push, or pull direction, creating feather sticks with the inner curve of the blade, and processing firewood - whether by chopping or batoning, smashing nuts with the pommel, scraping bark with the back of the knife, etc.

The handle has been designed to be used under harsh conditions, and not injure the hands from repeated use over extended periods of time. There is a bow drill divot on each side of the handle to facilitate this action should you need to make fire by friction in this manner, and a lanyard hole at the end of the pommel. Function and ergonomics were the key elements here.

The Khukuri has a long history of being a tool, weapon, and status symbol. The Bushcrafter Kukuri is first and foremost a tool, designed to embrace all those characteristics, that make up a knife that is useful for both Bushcraft, and Survival. It has enough size and strength to accomplish any mission in a Survival situation, yet is light enough, short, and nimble enough to use for Bushcrafting chores.

As a weapon, the soldier can count on the Bushcrafter Kukuri to perform flawlessly. The Nepalese Khukuri is well known for its ability to kill or sever with a single blow. The Bushcrafter Kukuri is no different. The awesome strength, cutting, and stabbing power of the Khukuri is legendary.

In Nepal when a boy becomes a man, he is presented with a Khukuri, representing his new status in life. It is a symbol of honor, dedication, and strength, among others. The Bushcrafter Kukuri carries on this tradition, and it is an honor, and a privilege to share this knife with all those who value the Khukuri design and wish to share in its rich legacy.

Kukuri - the destroyer (of wood, despair and ineptitude)
I was always curious to see TOPS' take on what is traditionally a blade from my part of the world. Having used khukuris forever, I got this one to see if it packs the punch in this smaller package (traditional khukuris can go up to 11" on a "medium" sized blade).

After using this knife, I must say that Nick Fury III (this one is more badass than the fictional one) backs his words with this design. The 7" blade can chop at the same rate if not better than my traditional handmade khukuris. It is also very good at making feathersticks, and although i have not used the bow drill yet, I am sure that it will do its job.

I wanted the old nylon sheath for this particular model. But since I have cried for years about the lack of kydex sheath for the war bowie, longhorn bowie, the old steel eagle, etc., the universe apparently wanted to balance itself out in this instance. However, I have no complaints, the kydex sheath is of great quality, fit and finish, and holds the knife very well with no rattle. Dangler works very well and problem with the constant motion and twisting of a knife this size can be easily rectified with by running a cord through the various eyelets and lashing this across my leg.

Speaking of my leg, I just used the insanely sharp tip of this kukuri to carve out a slot in my quadricep to store my mini survival kit that i wanted to mount on this knife's nylon sheath.

Linen micarta handle turns black with use. The picture here and on most sites almost make it look white or light gray and that is how the knife arrives - it is also super sharp as usual from TOPS. Maybe it is my skin or my tropical climate or again the universe sending me not-so-subtle signs. First the war bowie and now this one. A couple of months of usage has rendered the handles completely black - again no complaints, just an observation.

I have manged one monsoon hike so far with the knife and plenty of domestic testing on non living entities (for the most part, with the exception of the aforementioned leg). No complaints so far. I have cleared dense brush, chopped up walking sticks (effortlessly) during the hike and made some wooden spikes while the group talked about bears and leopards in the jungle we were in. The long handle offers a lot of positions to accomplish these tasks very well. I have found the handle quite ergonomic for my medium-to-large sized hands.

Highly recommended, 5 out of 5 for this one again.

Top tier compact kukri
A stunning blade! The curve makes handling an absolute dream. The girth and weight leaves so much material This beaut could probably last you a solid decade of almost any use. Also I ordered through Cabalas after seeimg complaints about the nylon sheath. They advertised it as having the nylong but it still shipped with the kydex. If you want to old sheath or something a little more secure in the nylon model just call up TOPS and they got you covered. I am absolutely infatuated with the quality of these knives! Bring back the old sheath!
Great knife! It’s a one stop shop for survival in the woods. The only negative thing concerns the sheath. I would like to have the old nylon sheath. The “old” sheath was great for making a complete survival kit with its pockets and secure straps to hold the knife in place. The kydex sheath it came with does not secure the knife when turned upside down. Do you produce the old sheath in-house or was it from another vendor? Can you offer the old sheath for purchase as a separate accessory? If not can you refer me to someone who can reproduce it?
Thanks

The old nylon sheath
I just love this knife.
I have some TOPS models in my collection, having recently purchased Operator 7, but this, remains my favorite survival knife.
I would like TOPS to sell the former Nylon OD Green Sheath as an accessory; I would not hesitate to buy it. Please, bring back the "old" nylon sheath.

A machine to cut wood
It's a big knife made to cut a whole forest, easy to use and very effective.
The only complaint I have to make is the comfort and finesse of its handle, it really lacks thickness and volume for the hands of medium and large size.
This is the first impression and the first question when you have this big knife in your hand: why TOPS made such a fine handle on a knife of this size?
But this lack of comfort does not remove the pleasure of cutting wood.
