El Chete
How does TOPS define destruction?
How does TOPS define destruction? El Chete.
This blade was designed with one thought in mind... chopping. With a 1/4" thick blade that is a full foot long, it will do that very well. Even though it's so large, the knife still weighs under 2 pounds.
We wanted the handles to be thick enough to fill each user's hand like a hatchet or small ax handle would, so we decided to use sandwiched Micarta. It's well rounded for comfort and the black canvas Micarta underneath the green canvas Micarta adds even more to the aesthetics of this piece.
The sheath is an out-the-front design with all the bells and whistles. You just pull up slightly and then out the front so that you don't have to strain to pull the knife all the way up through the sheath. There is a strap that when snapped into place, helps immensely with the retention of the blade. We've also made it available with our rotating spring steel clip or a leather dangler attachment so that each user picks the right fit for him or her.
If you're in the market for a large knife, you've definitely found it.

I had the opportunity to own this knife in a very special way, thanks to Tops President Leo Espinoza. For the first time that I hold this knife, Its a blissful experience, my memory from using may grandma's Chopper knife since even before I was even born, they have same profile and thickness, but a little shorter. And using that blade is a great experience. I can definitely conclude that this knife can outperformed any chopper I own and any chopper that's available in the market (custom or mass produce). Very high quality blade, great ergonomics (perfect fit to my L-XL Size Hands) and Handsome Blade.
Below is a simple unboxing video i made several months ago:

I really just instantly think BUTCHER whenever I so much as see this thing. It's so brutal and simple (by which I mean that this thing is probably the Simplest solution to most obstacles you can come across in a yard).
I used my Chete and a mallet to baton through the wood of an old playset that needed to be cleared. It cleaved through everything I put it up against like a champ.
The ONLY thing that I would ever change about it is to give it a slightly longer handle, but even then I usually forget about it once I've gotten a lanyard on to help with my grip. (Posted on 9/8/2022) - Amazing Chopper
- Saw this Chopper had to buy one. Cleared my backyard in one night, it destroyed the underbrush and chopped small trees and medium trees down with ease. Great for splitting and chopping firewood. Absolutely makes the hard chopping and clearing....FUN (Posted on 8/27/2020)
