Wilderness Guide '23
Same Wilderness, New Guide
The Wilderness Guide 4.0 has been a long-standing design for TOPS. This is one of Leo Espinoza’s early designs and one of the unique parts about it is the handle shape. Leo was doing some photography for TOPS at the time and had a wad of modeling clay that he used to prop knives up to take pictures. Basically, he was fiddling with the clay, squeezed it and then set it down to take some photos. When he picked it back up, he noticed it would be a comfortable handle for a knife. So, he drew it up with a wide blade with a high grind that would be great for a variety of uses.
Recently, he wanted to revamp it with a thicker, more rounded handle, a slightly thicker blade stock and of course a Kydex sheath instead of the nylon that the original comes with. The bullnose drop-point tip on this blade is strong and will be great for prepping fire boards for friction fires. It’s also not too pointy, which is great for skinning game so that you don’t puncture through the hide of the animal. The Wilderness Guide ’23 provides a robust, versatile knife for multiple use cases.
