Micro Hawk
karambit, tomahawk, and traditional knife combined
Shawn Owens brings a wealth of martial arts experience to his design, the Micro Hawk. He has trained for over 30 years in Filipino martial arts and Muay Thai. He is an instructor and has trained civilians, LEOs, and military personnel alike. On top of all that, he is also a pilot.
The 5/16” thick 1095 steel feels as solid as it looks, but won’t weigh too much on your belt. The camo paracord wrap has obvious uses for survival but also gives a comfortable grip on the knife. The minimalistic Kydex sheath keeps the weight down but holds the Micro Hawk in place securely.
The Micro Hawk was designed to be an EDC defensive tool, small enough to carry daily, and can also be versatile. Shawn has effectively combined the traits of a karambit, a tomahawk, and a traditional knife into one piece. When flying light aircraft, weight is always a concern, so this tool goes with him everywhere he can possibly take it.

- Meh
- This is more of a novelty item, took it to the Texas backwoods and it performed marginally. The paracord is garbage and useless, I contacted Tops about grips panels and was told to find a custom knife maker to build a set. The integrity of the cutting edge didn't fare well at all chopping 1/2-1" branches. The handle is also very awkward and uncomfortable, the design is suspect. Don't waste your hard earned money like I did. (Posted on 11/7/2021)
- Great concept, but twice as thick as it should be.
- I love the concept, I couldn't wait to get my hands on one when they came out. It fits great in my pack, So I kept carrying it hoping that something would just just "click" and I would figure out what I wasn't getting about this little tool... I finally had to accept that it wasn't me, it was the Micro hawk. It's too thick, it should only be half as thick as it is. The absurd thickness makes it uncomfortable to hold, the handle outweighs the head, and makes the cutting edges too thick to really do anything well but chop and it really doesn't do that well because of its small size. The solution is a simple one.... Make it half the thickness. It still wouldn't be a great chopper, but then it's not much of one now, but it would make it a better slicer. Again I love the concept but after a year of use I can say that's for what it is, it's just twice as much (steel) as it should be. (Posted on 5/15/2019)
