Snake River Rescue
Your Edge Below the Surface
Most dive knives are treated as an afterthought—poor steel, questionable edge retention, and designed only for emergencies. When you are underwater, you need a tool that works the moment you pull it from the sheath. The Snake River Rescue fixes this problem. Designed for divers who need a tool that acts like a knife first and a safety device second, this blade brings serious performance into the water.
This model originated from our Employee Design Challenge. That year, we had two winners—the Snake River Rescue and the Sidekick Diver. While the Sidekick Diver focused on the needs of spearfishermen, Jon Garcia designed the Snake River Rescue to be a capable, all-around cutting tool. Even though our desert-bound designer had to do his homework to understand the specific needs of a diver, the resulting tool has been tested by rescue professionals working in treacherous, dark waters. We designed this tool to move beyond the limitations of emergency-only gear.
Its performance comes from these key design elements:
- N690 Steel with Black Traction Coating: This steel provides excellent corrosion resistance and toughness, making it easy to resharpen while maintaining an edge through extended use. The black traction coating adds an extra layer of protection.
- Dual-Edge Geometry: The serrated spine is built for slicing through nets, fishing lines, and stubborn rope, while the main edge handles all standard cutting tasks with ease.
- High-Visibility G10 Handle: The thick, contoured grip ensures complete control with or without gloves, and the high-visibility color stands out if the blade is dropped in the water.
- Extended Metal Pommel: This feature serves as a functional tank tapper to monitor air supply, adding utility without adding bulk.
Whether you are on the boat or submerged, you need a blade that does not quit. This knife provides the strength to handle hard work in saltwater environments and the quality to perform like a primary cutting tool every time.
Please Note:
Pre-Dive – Make sure the knife is clean. Apply oil and/or blade care products (like TOPS Blade Sauce) to the blade to help repel water for as long as possible once it comes into contact with water.
Post-Dive – Clean the knife and its sheath thoroughly as soon as possible after use. Soap and water are great. Or use mild solvents – window cleaner works well for cleaning G10 and blades. Before putting the knife back in its sheath make sure that the blade and the inside of the sheath are completely dry. The most common culprit of rust on a blade is having it sit inside its sheath with moisture present. Reapply oil and/or blade care products (like TOPS Blade Sauce).
Long-term storage – It is recommended that when a knife is going to be stored long-term without use to place them in a temperature and humidity-controlled area if possible. Also, the knife should not be inside the sheath for long-term storage.
