Knives are high quality tools and as such are able to withstand rugged field use and conditions. However, it is incumbent upon the owner to ensure that the knife is secure in its sheath and that the use of the knife is restricted to prudent and applicable functions. The steel must be cared for to keep it free from contaminants or corrosive substances.
Any misuse of this knife other than to fulfill normal "knife-like" functions will result in voiding of this warranty. The Company reserves the right to make the final decision as to what is considered "fair use" or "abuse". Please contact us if you have any questions.
To receive warranty service, TOPS Knives requires proof of purchase or a copy of the original certificate of authenticity.
Please email info@topsknives.com to make a warranty claim or call our office at 208-542-0113.
TOPS will review your claim and provide an initial reply within 3 business days after receipt of the knife. Photos sent by email will expedite the claim process.
Many TOPS Knives are made from a well known, and well used steel known as 1095 High Carbon Alloy. As a military choice its success for hard use field knives has been recorded for over a half century. For added toughness, we differentially heat treat all of our High Carbon Alloy Knives. The edge is hardened to 56-58 Rockwell, but the spine is left softer to prevent breakage. If misused, these knives may bend.
It is worthy of note that 1095 may stain and oxidize if intelligent and generally proper care are not used. Like any good tool it needs to be taken care of, in this care a good oil should be applied on any exposed (non powder coated areas), ie. around the laser engraving and the cutting edge and serrations or saw teeth, as it applies to your knife, regular maintenance is encouraged.
On models which are camouflaged by request, it is important to oil the entire blade area.
It is of course incumbent upon the user of the knife to be responsible to keep the blade clean and lubricated in which case a good quality rust inhibitor/oil may be used.
TOPS uses only the finest grade of hybrid epoxy / poly-powdercoating on its blades... this coating is baked on and the integrity of the coating will last for the lifetime of the blade... aggressive wear against very hard surface like metal will cause some scratching or marring of the surface as will some chemical agents. However, basically keeping it clean and using it for knife life functions, will insure continual use.
Our coating has independently been tested and has passed the:
