What happens when an Alaskan-born guy starts making knives? You get some seriously awesome tools. The Tundra Wolf was designed by Trevor Barrett of Barrett-Knives. It’s an intriguing all-belly blade that still has a very fine, sharp point. The handle design works in multiple positions for different cutting tasks and has thick handles with a great shape and contour. This design will excel in camping, survival, and hunting applications. The sheath has great retention and comes with a leather dangler attachment to make it easy to carry whether you’re sitting, standing, getting in and out of vehicles, and walking through thick brush. The materials are classic TOPS mainstays. 1095, black traction powder coat, Micarta handles, and a Kydex sheath. If you’re looking for a great blade in the 5” to 6” blade length range, this is the one for you.

Extremely functional, general purpose Strider knife
I first saw this collaboration coming up on Instagram and picked up a custom Denali (the source model that Barrett Knives makes) from Trevor. I used it on a couple of hikes and loved how the blade felt in my hands. So when TOPS released this knife last year, I picked one up myself and finally got it to India last month.

Yes, this looks like Aragorn's ranger knife given by the elves and I'm sure it can stick an orc very well. But don't mistake it as a one trick pony. This knife can slice, stab and do some light chopping without any hassle.

The Tundra Wolf is my new companion for day hikes around my place. I recently used it on one such hike to clear thorny shrubs off the trail and it was quite the slicer of small branches. The lesser known hiking trails in India throw such surprises during monsoons where most or all of the trail is overwhelmed by thorny trees and shrubs.

The handle is very ergonomic and it reminds me of the longhorn Bowie with respect to the solid, hand filling grip. This knife has its balance point closer to the first screw on the handle. This makes it extremely nimble in the hand, if one has to use it for self defense.

It is also very useful for food prep / slicing fruits and veggies with ease. The sweeping belly is a delight to work with when it comes to this task.

All in all, I would give this a 5* rating. It's another winner from TOPS and Trevor Barrett and if you're looking for a light weight, multi-purpose belt knife that has an interesting design, you won't be disappointed with this one.
