Now a tradition at TOPS Knives, an employee design contest takes place each year. TOPS asks its employees to design a knife for specific use with some required specs. In 2016, it was a hatchet. In 2017, it was a chef’s knife. And that is how the Dicers were born.
Since you can’t have just one knife in the kitchen, the Dicer 3 Paring knife was the obvious 2nd choice for the Dicer series of knives. The two most used kitchen knives almost anywhere are the chef’s knife and the paring knife. The Dicer 3 has a 3.5” cutting edge with an aggressive pointed tip. It is also made of CPM S35VN steel to provide a quality knife to last a lifetime. The sandwiched Micarta and G10 handle is patterned after the Dicer 8 with the same contouring for maximum comfort while using the knife. While the Dicer 3 and Dicer 8 can be purchased separately, buying them together is the best choice if you’re interested in upgrading your current kitchen set.

- Dicer 3 is underrated!
- I have been using my Dicer 3 since early 2022 as my primary edc knife and it has quickly become my favorite knife. I had a custom leather sheath made for it after adding grooves in the handle and thumb jimping on the spine as well as squaring off part of the spine to strike a ferro rod. These additions took a knife that already feels great in the hand and performs well to the next level! The S35VN takes and holds an amazing edge, but isn't so brittle I worry about damaging the edge if I get into doing some heavier tasks with it. The blade shape lends itself to be a great general purpose knife and I use the it for everything from opening boxes, cutting zipties, food prep, and carving to cleaning game, cutting hoses, and fire prep. I cannot recommend this knife enough and thoroughly believe it is an overlooked and underrated knife in the TOPS catalog. You will have to get a sheath made if you plan to edc it as it only comes with a basic kydex blade cover. (Posted on 10/18/2022)
