Hatchets have proven their usefulness over the years, time and time again. They are great for splitting smaller pieces of wood, chopping branches, limbs, and even small trees when necessary. They’re helpful when you need to clear a country road of debris and you forgot your chainsaw again. Some people even prefer them to large chopping knives. That’s why the Ucon Hawk was made.

This tool is similar in dimension to the Hammer Hawk, but it is a little lighter and made with 1095 instead of 1075. TOPS famous differential heat treat gives a tool that will be strong and hold its edge very well. The handles are made from a new material that mixes layers of G10 and rubber to provide maximum grip. The portion of the tang between the handle and the bit is rounded allowing the user to choke up for detailed cuts. So this can do all of the jobs of a hatchet and some of the jobs of a knife. It comes with a 2-piece leather sheath so that it can be carried in multiple ways with safety in mind. It’s sure to become the go-to hatchet in your collection.

Precise Swinging 1095, (beautiful)
I break down pine/fir logs with the wood splitter into 1-2 inch flats then the high impact is perfect for turning those wooden plates into a fire starting base sticks. It splits the flats with the grain into little sticks, really quickly, painlessly.

(I bought the rocky mountain, with the camo, the thing is genuinely beautiful.)

Its not really the one for the yard though...

Nice design but it's no Hammer Hawk
I really like the shape and design of this axe, but it's far too thin, imho, to be used on anything but light chopping. Don't get me wrong, the UH can take a beating and hold its own, I just think they're are already enough thinner hatchets, like the Esee Gibson axe, that just can't compare to the heavier duty type axes/hatchets. One of the best hatchets made anywhere today, and the best axe/hatchet TOPS makes, at this current time is the Hammer Hawk...perfect size, steel, and thickness. I wish they would make an upgraded version of the Ucon Hawk that could compete with the HH. Review by John (Posted on 10/17/2020)
Fantastic Axe
I love the Ergonomics of this Axe. It feels comfortable in the hand. It is a fantastic Chopping Hatchet. Tore through an entire hardwood tree in no time. Easily now my favorite axe. The new grip, feel with the rubber/G10 is amazing. If you are looking for a great hatchet you should definitely consider this one.... Review by ScoutMasterRobNC (Posted on 8/27/2020)
