The Steel Eagle 107D was the first model TOPS ever made. With the success of that knife, the hunter’s or drop point version was an obvious next step. Those that will be using their Steel Eagle mostly for outdoors tasks, may find the usability of a blade with belly to be more to their liking.

This Steel Eagle Delta Class model also comes with the new Midnight Bronze finish, sandwiched Micarta, and the tan Kydex just like its tanto point counterpart. It also comes with the same strength, durability, versatility, and dependability as the 107D.

Why didn't I buy this 2 decades ago?
Is the exact question I have been asking myself for the last 3 months. This is the blade that started it all for TOPS and one needs to handle this blade first hand (no pun intended) to really understand why it has been a best seller for 2 decades.

I was worried that the Delta class handles will be slightly unwieldy for me, but speaking to TOPS before purchasing helped. I have medium to large size hands and the knife is quite secure in all three grips (forward, reverse, notching grip using the teeth).

The sheath and the clip are quite secure and work very well for both open and concealed carry IWB (yeah, i do that at times with this tiny knife).

The teeth are very good for notching and destroying ferro rods. I will still use a dedicated striker for my ferro rod, but this can be a last ditch striker.

The finger choil for detailed work is quite useful. Recently I had to make a quick spear to chase away some monkeys during a hike. And I was able to chop and sharpen a mean spear of roughly 2" diameter within a couple of minutes.

The tip comes wicked sharp and I got the acid rain wash coating, which i preferred to midnight bronze for this one. It makes an excellent photo prop as well.

Like many who have discovered this knife a decade or 2 too late, I wish I had bought this sooner (even if it was the OG black version)!

This is the definitive Rambo knife and I don't think you can get any better at this price for an all-round survival knife. 5 stars.

My favorite knife
I f****** love this knife, it is my favorite knife I own and if I could only keep one it would be my steel eagle, I have the acid wash with the rocky mountain tread and its perfect. I've used this heavily on many camping trips and it never disappoints. Just a suggestion, a steel eagle shirt would be awesome. Thanks for the great knives guys. Review by Ted (Posted on 4/18/2020)
