The Fieldcraft Knife was designed by The Brothers of Bushcraft, a coalition of men across North America focusing on sharing wilderness living skills of all categories. From tracking, to building shelters, the Brothers of Bushcraft make it a point to show the skills to all people, of all ages, from all over.

The Fieldcraft Knife is the culmination of their knowledge, combining experiences from; the broad and humid rain forests, the arid and scorpion-littered deserts, and the frigid northern lands that span the Americas.

The knife is 10 inches long in total, with a blade length of 4 1/2 inches. This makes a compact, but extremely serviceable knife. The Fieldcraft's blade is 3/16" thick, and made of 1095 High Carbon steel. The cutting edge is a modified Scandinavian Grind, which is very effective for carving, skinning and other general woods work. With a rockwell hardness of 56-58, the ease of sharpening is astounding. That is if you ever get to sharpen the blade. As the hardness and edge geometry work beautifully together to make a long lasting edge.

The handle is one of the most ergonomic ones on the market, sporting several useful additions. Although knives with a lot of frills often end up lacking, the additional items found on the Fieldcraft knife were selected from experience and critiqued in every step of design, development and production. Being made of canvas Micarta, the handle will never let you down. The bow drill divot on the handle is frictionless and makes starting those primitive fires almost effortless. The "Thumb Scallops", formed on the hilt of the handle offer more comfort and control when using specialized carving and skinning grips. The pommel of the blade is simply the tang of the knife exposed enough to allow impact from a baton to not effect the handle (though the Micarta is definitely tough enough to take such abuse). On the exposed pommel, you will find a scraper specially designed by one of The Brothers of Bushcraft, for striking Ferro rods in a safe and efficient manner.

The sheath is a strong, durable Kydex, with a steel belt clip. This arrangement allows a safe, secure and comfortable carry on the belt, pack strap, or even around the neck. With a built in Ferro-rod attachment point, the sheath now doubles as a minimalist survival kit.

The Fieldcraft Knife has had heavy duty abuse, and testing done in the wilderness of Canada, where local survival experts Mors Kochanski, Dr. Gino Ferri, and many others have deemed her a "Serviceable Field Knife". These words are exactly what she is meant to be.

From carving netting needles and trap triggers, to chopping through branches, the TOPS Knives / Brothers of Bushcraft Fielcraft Knife will do just about any chore that you can throw at her in a wilderness survival scenario.

Survived a Intensive 45 day Survival Instructor course and beyond
I've owned this knife for several years now. I used it daily for batoning, carving, chopping, drilling, dressing and cleaning several animals and fish during an intensive 45 day primitive survival instructor training course in 2016 and use it any time I'm out in the woods for those same tasks here in
Montana. some of the paint has flecked or rubbed off its got a slight bit of patina in spots but I've never sharpened it and I can still shave some decent feather sticks. The handle has held up to a few bow drill uses and the blade spine shows little sign of the massive abuse it has received. I would recommend this and any other blade that Tops makes with complete confidence in their product

Long trips between Helena and Boise
Did a 9 month stint as an RN in Helena hospital during peak of COVID. I would drive back to my home in Boise every month or so during last fall and earlier this winter. Nasty travel through Montana and Idaho passes. Always carried this in my BOB I kept in my car just in case! Great knife as are all 6 of my TOPS Knives. Review by john (Posted on 4/26/2021)
Awesome!
I bought the BOB Fieldcraft knife, over a year ago, to put in my ATV for back country camping and hunting. I usually carry another knife, but I found that I consistently go back to the Fieldcraft knife for camp chores. It is a bombproof knife that holds an edge really well. I had to make some slight modifications to the knife. The thumb notches on top of blade, in front of hilt, were too sharp and wore a hole in my thumb until I ground them down a bit. Also the top edge of the blade was not 90 degrees and made it difficult to use on a ferro rod (never could get the scraper on the pommel). And my only real complaint is that PoS Kydex sheath that came with the knife. Now I'm buying the leather Bushcraft sheath that should have come with the knife in the first place. Otherwise, I highly recommend this knife. You can literally bet your life on it! Review by MTNRIDER (Posted on 2/4/2021)
This Knife is SOLID
The one word to best describe this knife is just that - SOLID. The blade thickness alone makes this an elite knife, and one that's going to last for generations. As mentioned in another review, this knife was built for function, not show. I've used this knife mostly for hunting, but also for camping and more recently, just around the house. What I like most about it is that it's up to any task - I don't have to worry about being careful. It's great for skinning, chopping and just about everything in between. While I'm not a huge fan of kydex sheaths, what I like about this one is that the angle is adjustable. If I'm carrying a firearm on my right side, I can place it on my left and set the angle for crossdraw. Lastly, I'll stop short of saying I'm a collector, but I do own a lot of knives. This is easily the best fixed blade that I own. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a solid, dependable workhorse. Review by Paul (Posted on 6/27/2017)
Nice knife
I got the knife last weekend from a local dealer, honestly it was a real hard choice to select between BOB and Esee 4 as both knife looked pretty good to me. Ultimately I selected BOB due to its thickness of the knife spine (which can be great for prying wood open) and the modified scandi grind (which can be great of chopping wood with better ease). However I do have some concern over the shango tip to start the ferro rod, it seems to be quite difficult and I believe that there could be a design failure with the shango tip. Hence I would strongly advice Tops to re-look at the shango tip for starting ferro/magnesiom rod. Other than that, it is really a great knife Review by Zoydan (Posted on 10/4/2015)
new go to for tactical and woods time.
First TOPS knife for me was a C.U.B., which I love. Based on its performance I purchased this one, it has been flawless as well. From outdoor, camping, mil. duties, scouts, to day to day "garage" Honey do lists this is one of my favorite tools. Its not a size envy knife, its not a bells and whistles bling and flash Rambo knife its simply a go to understated work horse that quietly performs flawlessly. As a lefty the sheath is a disappointment for me and useless, suggest TOPS offer something for us lefties. When I ordered it I also ordered another SPEC OPS Combat Master medium sheath from another company. Best sheath in the world in my opinion. The green/black is beautiful, rugged and feels great in the hand. The color of the outdoors. The knife was SHARP, clean, and ready for duty right out of the bag. If your on the fence, jump. I recommend the knife wholeheartedly.
